Crafting with cat hair

Check out this book - couldn't find out much more about it, but how funny. It does not suprise me this book has been born from the obsession of a Japanese writer.

Nice Cushions

nice cushions

I like these cushions from wannekes.com

Here's a bit of a zoom in on the details...

Just that one cushion alone has a lot of tutorials for how you could draw animals with character in pixels,
if pixel animals is what you've been waiting then there you go!...

New found blog

Posted on 23/02/2011 - 16:56 by milly
crystaloicle

CRYSTALOICLE is my kind of blog.

This is a selection of a lot of things I thought were fab on this blog.

We have the 'make love' origami poster; I am a little addicted to 'cool' origami (should that be termed 'geeky' origami, I think probably!), although I do tend to always convince myself I can do it with normal paper instead of the uber thin, proper origami stuff. I tried to get my hands on CRAFT volume 5, which gave a whole edition to 'the wonderfully diverse world of paper projects'. It was to no avail as I can only find a few of the issues available in UK outlets. But like this post on crystaloicle, there are many tutorial on the world wide web of cute / fun / geeky origami projects.

Next to catch my eye was the currently trendy moustache themed toilet doors. My friend Becky loves moustaches, well actually many people do - my dad has sported one for longer than I have known him, Sarah and Dave had stick on moustaches for all their guests at their wedding last summer, which was some very fun table entertainement. But this post made me think of Becky, we hosted a moustache party a few years ago, and each guest received a eye-liner tash chosen from our tash menu. So that's pretty much why I loved that post!

How cool is this next one - the furry message board. I love it, I want one! Enough said, oh except that they are the work of Gonçalo Campos.

Last in my selection of much that is good at Crystaloicle are these butter packets, 'Butter! Better'. I spent probably around 3-4 years obsessing over cute and clever designs like this, all based around food / baking / cooking / the home. And while my collection has begun to dwindle I do still get a little flutter when I see stuff like this. I think they're fad, credit to Yeongkeun Jeong.

There's lots more cool stuff on the site, if you liked any of that,

knitted online cuddlies

Just to keep you posted, we're about to dive head first into the world of cuddly toys. Knitted online are soon to start work on knitted cuddlies.

So soon you can create your own cuddlie, will it be just like you or will it be your nemisis?

If anyone has any strong opinions on the look of the knitted cuddlies, please do let us know either through the contact form on the website, or let us know on our facebook page.
We'd love to know if people want to create their own bunny, or a lanky rectangully.

Bearing All

Posted on 29/01/2011 - 02:02 by milly
Hanging the washing out, bearing all

It's difficult to name Knitted Online's official launch date (and maybe unnecessary).

Was it:
a) The day we bought the machine,
b) The day we begun the website,
c) The day I knitted my first hat,
d) The day we called for designers to join us,
e) None of the above.

Truth is I don't know which of these is the more significant date, but I do know that we are now up, running, and selling knitwear. We are very proud to be making things in the UK, and even more so to be manufacturing in the Midlands.

Part of running Knitted Online is constantly sourcing new Designers so that our collection is broad and varied for our customers. Today was a good Friday; I meet a few people at Birmingham Social Music Cafe, in particular Created in Birmingham, a blog dedicated to hunting out those doing just what it says on the tin. Today they featured a selection of our 'cosy accessories and homewares', and tomorrow I'll post up some more pictures of some of the knitted pieces for you all to see.

Spring, summer knits

Posted on 24/01/2011 - 17:36 by milly
spring, summer knits

Though it maybe January and the weather is cold, down the street the retailers are taking down sale signs, unpacking boxes and preparing for Spring.

"It's too soon",

"we're still cold",

"what will become of us all" come the cries of the shivering shoppers.

Yes it is true, the retail world has moved on from winter, and while you undoubtedly begin to think of summer and your thinner, lighter wardrobe, don't forget your knitwear. You can loose a layer from your arms or your legs, but wrap a scarf round your neck or place a beanie upon your head. BECAUSE ITS ACTUALLY STILL REALLY COLD!

(The lovely knitted things featured in this article come from ASOS, and you can check them out here, and here)

design prototype

knitted online jumper prototype

A sneak peak at what's to come

As well as the products already in the store, we're working on new products to release sometime soon. One of which is prototyped here - the knitted jumper.

I had a few requests over Christmas for that novelty Christmas jumper, I myself would have loved to have been wearing a Rudolph jumper on Christmas Day. I just thought I'd up date you though to let you know that new items are being worked on. Here is a three colour jumper being worn by my Dad out on the slopes. He loved being an ambassador for Knitted Online, not to mention totally ahead of the curve with his extra colour, and prototype garment!

We had a request through the site for laptop covers, and again this is something we're working on and will keep you updated on. If anyone has any requests or suggestions, please do let us know, you can email us, or let us know on our facebook page.

And in the meantime, happy knitting xx
